Malawi Investment Forum 2018
Malawi Investment Forum 2018 (MIF2018) is held under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, State President of the Republic of Malawi. The Forum will be a two day event and will be held on 11th and 12th June 2018 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in the Capital City of Malawi, Lilongwe. It is organized by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (MoITT) and the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC).
MIF2018, whose theme is Private Sector-Led Growth; the Key to Malawi’s Development builds on the successes of MIF2016 and MIF2015. Participation at MIF2016 was characterized by the presence of renowned international business captains and delegates from over 35 countries. MIF2018 programme has been enhanced as it includes a roundtable discussion of international business players on the first day and a Financiers’ corner on the second day.
Key Performance Areas
MIF2018 is built on three key performance areas, namely; sustainable private sector investment, increased export of Malawi products and job creation.
Sustainable Private Sector Investment- the ultimate goal of MIF2018 is to market projects both private and public for the private sector uptake. The projects are mainly drawn in five sectors that MIF2017 is promoting i.e. Agriculture and Agro-processing, Energy, Manufacturing, Tourism, and Transport and Infrastructure.
Increased Export of Malawi’s Products- this will be achieved though the trade exhibitions on Malawi goods and services. Our expectation is that our exporters will strike trade deals with international buyers
Job Creation- the ultimate goal of the forum is to have sustainable investments in the country and a broadened export market for Malawi that will eventually lead to job and wealth creation. The investment projects and trade products on show have been carefully chosen for the sectors that will enable us achieve this objective.
